12 May @ 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM BST
THAMES PATH WALK and PUB LUNCH
12.30 for lunch (Meet up details below)
We plan a very pleasant Thameside walk upstream from just above Boveney Lock to about opposite Bray studios where such memorable films as The Rocky horror Show, Dracula and the Curse of Frankenstein were brought to life!
The Path squeezes between the river and some good views of the Olympic Dorney lake. It passes by St. Mary Magdalene Chapel parts of which date back to the 12th century and should be open. A pretty part of the Thames path.
MEET UP for the Walk: The Ramblers Car Park, Dorney Common, Boveney Road SL4 6QQ at 10:30am
From the B3026 ( Dorney to Eton wick road), in the middle of Dorney Common turn down Boveney Road , Go right down to near the end and the car park is around the left hand bend on the right
Long Walk
Around Dorney Lake (c. 4 miles)
Short Walk
It is a “there and back” walk of about 3 miles but you can stop in a number of places to admire the view and await the return of the fittest if a shorter distance is preferred. A 1/2 mile walk to the Chapel and back might quite enough for some.
Pub Lunch
Planned for 12.30 will be at the PALMER ARMS in Dorney conservation Village, SL4 6QW where some tables have been reserved. A wide range of good pub food and drink can be ordered and there is a large car park.
MEET UP for Lunch: THE PALMER ARMS VILLAGE ROAD DORNEY SL4 6QW. right in the middle of the conservation village of Dorney it has a large car park.
NOTE, the 2 places are about a mile apart and I suggest members drive to the pub after the walk. There are no toilets at the car park and the pub does not open until noon. If you are coming from the Maidenhead direction you will pass the Sainsbury superstore or in Eton there are facilities.
