The Bob Gammack Trophy (2015)
The trophy is awarded for exceptional effort on behalf of the association
Roger Knight has been a member of GXSA for many years and Treasurer for the last nine (2006 – 2015), but this year sees him retiring from the Committee.
As Treasurer he has managed the Association’s finances, banking, membership subscriptions, and the front desk at our Wednesday evening meetings. On appointment he brought in-house the preparation of the Association’s accounts, setting up the reporting in Microsoft Excel, which has revolutionised the understanding of our finances.
As well as being the GXSA Treasurer, most members will know Roger as the First Face of GXSA that visitors meet when they arrive at our Wednesday meetings.
Over the years whilst on the committee Roger has organised many Saturday Specials and other events including, more recently, memorable visits to
- HMS Belfast (March 2013),
- The Thames Barrier (November 2013),
- The Historic Chatham Dockyard (November 2014) and
- Trinity House (February 2015).
Roger has been a crucial part of GXSA and we will continue to benefit from his knowledge, friendship, and humour… even though he has now retired from the Committee. His efforts have been really exceptional,
He remains the GXSA point of contact for the Gerrards Cross Community Association from whom we hire the Colston Hall for our Wednesday evenings.
He is a worthy winner of the Bob Gammack Trophy.
