Chris Tarratt
Mutiny on the Bounty and the Loss of the Vergulde Draeck
Chris will speak first about the Mutiny on the Bounty and the second session will describe the loss of the Vergulde Draeck. Although more than 100 years apart, both these events are about getting to safety in an open boat over a large tract of sea.
Chris is a keen cruising and racing sailor, with recent voyages to Spain, SW France, and the Danish Baltic Islands. He also competes in the annual Mermaid one-design regatta at Seaview and in the Round the Island race. He has lectured for over 40 years around the UK with the aim of raising money for charities, on this occasion the Air Ambulance. He is also involved with the Golden Dream Charity, volunteering as a helper through the RYA to assist up and coming Paralympic sailors.
