Man Overboard – Could you deal with it ?
Jonty is a 60-year old retired GP who lives nearly as far from the sea as possible in Malvern. He and his wife Carol sail a Southerly 105 ketch from Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, and developed a particular interest in Man Overboard recovery. The couple contributed to a Cruising Association MOB seminar following a practical ‘Expert on Board’ Yachting Monthly article ‘How an 8st woman recovers a 20st man’. The couple have given several lectures to sailing clubs on the subject as a result.
In addition to being a boat owner, Jonty is an ex-commodore of The Penguin Cruising Club, and has dabbled in yachting journalism (largely to escape the strains of the NHS) by contributing a range of articles to Yachting Monthly. He also writes a blog for the magazine’s website.
