Oil & Gas projects in Ice Covered Waters
Herbie served for 20 years in the Tanker fleet of an oil major followed by a further 20 years in various shore postings worldwide as pilot, marine manager and in terminal projects. His last position was marine coordinator for the Sakhalin 2 project in the Russian Far East and he liaised with Russian and International ice institutes to develop the specifications and standards for export tankers, support vessels and offshore platforms. Herbie is also a ‘yachtie’ and he will describe ice navigation and its associated problems. How is climate change affecting all this – will the North East passage become available for navigation ?
