Wednesday 15th November

Tony Roome

Massey Shaw

Massey Shaw was built in 1935 to fight fires in London Docks and along the Thames. She saw active service throughout World War 2, being a major part of the effort to save St Paul’s and the City and bringing over 500 men off the beaches of Dunkirk. She retired from front line service in 1971 and was rescued by a Trust with the assistance of the Heritage Lottery Fund, with her complete refurbishment in 2012. The evening will focus on her history but bring her story up to date, explaining her current role and the education work planned for her future.
