2025 July Walk and Pub Lunch

A Country Walk followed by lunch in the White Horse at 12:30pm.

The routes can be viewed here, with colour coding indicated below.

We will be starting and ending at the White Horse, Village Ln, Hedgerley, Slough SL2 3UY.

Details of the Walks are:

• Short Walk (Purple + Green c. 1.8 miles) starts 11:30am
  • Facing the White Horse, walk right, then immediately left up the track to the church
  • Pass to left of church
  • Continue straight, until path widens, and continue straight 
  • Pass to right of first village pond, then to the left of the second pond.
  • Turn right at the post box, walking along the country lane
  • Turn right immediately before Manor Farm Cottage
  • Exit the woods, and continue straight passing through a gate. 
  • Turn immediately right, walking into the field, but heading towards the edge of the woodland. Continue along the edge of the wood until you reach a broken wide gate. The gate, this marks the end of the pink path
  • Long Walkers deviate to the right (yellow path) here.
  • Short Walkers continue straight onto the green path , then through a gate onto a track.
  • After 100m, follow the sign to the right, up a few steps, through a meadow, into the church yard. [If you miss the turn, you will continue and find yourself on the road, 150m up from the White Horse]
  • Bear left through the church yard, exit the church, and return to the White Horse, where you started.
• Long Walk ( Purple + Yellow c. 4 miles) starts 10:30 am NB: the previously advertised red walk is now closed (by huge fences) and inaccessible.
  • Follow the Short Walk until you reach the broken gate.
  • Go through the gate, and turn immediately left.
  • Cross the field, then go through the gate, into the woods
  • At the top of the hill, there is a field beyond the woods
  • Exit the woods, with the field on your right. Carry on straight
  • Eventually, you will exit into an open field.  Carry straight on.  Mid-field, bear right until you meet Colum Green Road (moderately busy Country road).
  • Take care crossing the road, then climb over the stile, turning right onto the permissive way (woodland track) that runs safely alongside the road
  • Eventually, you will rejoin the main road.
  • After 50m, turn right down Hedgerley Hill, then continue straight down the hill, until you eventually returrn to the White Horse.
• Lunch starts c. 12:30

There will be a long walk and a short walk. If you don’t want to walk, you can join for lunch at the pub.

Deadlines

There is no Official Closing Date for bookings. You don’t even need to book!!

If you do use the webform to book, we’ll know to wait for you before we set off for the walk if you’re delayed, and we’ll know to reserve a place for you for lunch.

If you don’t use the webform, you’re taking pot-luck 🙂
