Strictly speaking this is not a GXSA Rally, because of insurance limitations.
However, I’m taking my boat to the Channel lslands for a cruise from Saturday 17th to Monday 26th August 2013. I you would like to join me as crew, or bring your own boat along I would be very happy to sail in company with you !
In brief I’m looking for
- Anybody who would like to crew on a boat; if you don’t have one, or don’t want to bring your own, I’ll try to find a skipper for you.
- Skippers who would like to bring your own boat.
- Sailors who would like to charter a boat and bring it along.
- Husbands, Wives, Partners, and Singles
Basically, anybody who wants to come to the Channel Islands will be most welcome. If you need a skipper, I’ll try to match you up with one. (eg. I definitely need some company on the trip).
This isn’t limited to GXSA members, so if you want to bring friends along, they would also be welcome.
The itinerary is roughly:
- Alderney (Dinner on Sunday 18th)
- Guernsey (Dinner on Tuesday 20th)
- Jersey (Dinner on Thursday 22nd)
- Sark (at Anchor Friday 23rd)
- Alderney (Dinner on Sunday 25th)
- Home (Monday 26th)
The plan is to meander between the islands, exploring the flora, fauna, sights, pubs, and restaurants, with a bit of sailing in-between.
I’ve allowed roughly two days between each port, to allow for weather windows, and sightseeing.
I do have a tidal window plan that works for day-sailing between the islands, but I’ll share that with those who express an interest in coming along. It should all be plain sailing.
If you’re not a regular attendee at GXSA Rallies, please DO come along. We have over 70 boats in the Association, with probably 20 attending at rallies over the year, and usually 30 people at each event. Everyone who comes along says what a good time they have, so if you are a serial non-attender, please consider coming; it will be fun.
If you would like to join us for some or all of the week, that would be fine. If you’re planning a longer trip, why not use this as a launch pad, or a soft landing.
If your’re interested (or not), please reply – otherwise I’ll keep nagging you J
All the best
