Rally 2012: Yarmouth Invitation 1

Break out the Bunting!!

It’s always good to have something to look forward to….

Following on from the huge success of the GXSA Bembridge Rally in April, and the certain success of the Osborne House Rally in July, I’d like to invite you to the GXSA September Rally……in September!

Destination Yarmouth, on the weekend of September 8th/9th, will be an action packed two days of yachting fun.  I’m told that the Jet Stream will have moved by then, so we’re certain of good weather, as well J.

We’re starting on Saturday 8th with a Sail in Company voyage from Portsmouth to Yarmouth.  This photographic frenzy should provide the opportunity to get snaps of all the boats and people in the fleet.  On arrival, we’ll organise a Swap Shop so that everyone can get photos of themselves from the other boats.

Also on Saturday, there will be a light-ramble (1 mile) to Fort Victoria, visiting the Underwater Archeology Centre with its exhibits brought up from the depths of the Solent.

After returning from the walk, there will be a drinks reception on one of the boats.

Finally on Saturday, dinner will be provided at the RoyalSolent Yacht Club in Yarmouth.  The venue and the food, look great; the company looks better!

Sunday will be a little more varied.  For the early risers the tides run fair for a return to Portsmouth via the Needles and St Catherine’s Point.  Other people may want to join in another early ramble that we have planned (4 miles), followed by departure from Yarmouth, and lunch in Newtown Creek.

If you’re a Rally Regular, let me know ASAP if you’re interested.
If you’re a Solo Sailor, let me know, and I’ll fix you up on a boat
If you’ve not joined in a Rally before, I’m certain that you’ll have a good time.  Try it this time.  What’s the worst that can happen?

I need to finalise numbers in August, so I promise to keep sending you nag-mails until you reply to me!!  That’s the only way that the emails will stop.

Please talk to you GXSA friends about the rally.  This email might have gone to their spam box, so they may not know about it.

Have a good summer.

Stuart

PS:  May I take one more opportunity to plug the GXSA-Cruising group on Yahoo.  The objective is to publicise sailing sailing opportunities between friends in GXSA.  We will also be using this group to decide the menu options for the Yarmouth Rally, by using the voting system in the group.
